Apply for Community Investment Funding

Our Community Investment Program is designed to provide a pathway for meaningful community initiatives to be undertaken and make a tangible difference to the community in one of the Key Focus Areas outlined below.

Each year, Ravenswood Gold directly contributes over $250,000 to the local community through support of local organisations, donations, sponsorship, tourism development and events. The expansion of the mine resulted in Ravenswood Gold funding a new state-of-the-art primary school and upgrades to local tourist attractions. Future funding commitment include local road upgrades, improvements to local tourist attractions and constructing a new waste transfer facility.

Local residents, local businesses, not-for-profit or community organisations or education facilities are encouraged to apply for funding from the Community Investment Program. The new pillar of the Program, the Community Grants pillar, will be considered where the cost (or value of in-kind works / materials) is shared between Ravenswood Gold and the Applicant. Sponsorships and Donations remain 100% contribution by Ravenswood Gold.

Key focus areas

Environment

A healthy and sustainable natural environment has many benefits for communities. We look to support initiatives that will improve environmental conditions in Ravenswood and the local district such as land care initiatives involving tree planting, land rehabilitation, and restoration of native animal habitats.

Education

Education can determine the quality of an individual’s life and provides a foundation for equity in society. Funding will be considered for projects and programs aimed at providing educational opportunities for primary and high school students, and more broadly, support for resource industry knowledge sharing. Preference will be given to students who normally reside in Ravenswood and surrounding district although opportunities in Bowen, Burdekin, Charters Towers and Townsville will also be considered.

Health and wellbeing

Communities flourish when people are safe, happy and healthy. Programs that can build more resilient communities specifically aimed at promoting health, wellbeing and safety of children and youth in the Ravenswood, Charters Towers, and Burdekin areas are encouraged.

HeArT  (Heritage, Art, Tourism)

At the heart of our caring for the community is supporting projects that will improve the liveability of Ravenswood. HeArT focuses on Heritage, Arts and Tourism initiatives for the ongoing prosperity of residents and businesses. Considerations will be made to fund projects that preserve and promote Ravenswood’s uniqueheritage, Birriah Aboriginal Heritage, art programs, workshops and exhibitions and events and installations that will increase the number of visitors to Ravenswood and/or enhance visitor experience.

Heritage buildings

We encourage owners or managers of heritage properties to apply for a Community Grant to assist with maintenance or other works or initiatives to use the properties for community or business activities.
